LEED Certified Virginia Theological Seminary Faculty Houses

Alexandria, Va.

These new homes were the first to achieve LEED certification in the City of Alexandria! Architects Cole & Denny Incorporated drew plans for these three-bedroom homes in 2004 when a first set were built at another campus location. In 2008, the Theological Seminary decided to build two more faculty houses, but the special use permit required they be built to green standards.

Harry Braswell, Inc. encouraged the Seminary to obtain LEED for Homes certification not only to help satisfy the permit requirements, but also to minimize the homes’ environmental impact and energy use. The Seminary agreed to the idea and any necessary changes. As the contractor, we took responsibility for incorporating the LEED requirements into the existing plans during construction and coordinating all LEED documentation.
